Nomadic Foods Wild Mushroom Foraging Excursions 2018
$50/person 2pm Saturdays
Must preregister email@example.com by 8pm Thursdays
Dave and Lisa have years of experiencing foraging for wild mushrooms in Ontario from old-growth pine forests in the north to Carolinian forests in the south with many of their finds supplying fine local restaurants and markets. They are offering wild mushroom foraging experiences to those who have always wanted to harvest wild fungi but where apprehensive about where to go, what to look for, and how to differentiate between edible, medicinal and poisonous species.
Participants can learn mushroom identification of edible, medicinal, and poisonous species, harvesting mushrooms in a sustainable manner, tree identification and how they relate to certain species, mushroom and mycelium growth/propagation cycles and much more.
Excursions will be 2 to 3 hours and targeted areas for exploration will be within a 2-hour drive from The Barn (within 30 minutes from Wasaga Beach). Group size 5 minimum, 15 maximum. Things to bring: water, snacks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, long pants and hiking boots/shoes, rain gear (pants, jacket), bug spray and/or netted clothing, knife and a basket for delicious mushrooms to take home.
